It still has the best restaurant deal list we’ve found for Las Vegas: There’s everything from high-end restaurants at Strip resorts to neighborhood pubs, and everything in between.
Visiting Las vegas this summer could be a budget friendly alternative to those wanting to vacation closer to home, but be prepared for the temperatures; it is after all the middle of a desert. While the temperature can soar to well over 100 degrees during the day, nights get very cool, often a shock of cold after the earlier heat. Swimming pools are a wonderful way for those who want a tan to spend a day in Vegas, but arm yourself with sunscreen and water, so you don’t spend your night looking like a lobster in steaming misery.
Fountains aren’t usually considered entertainment, but these two are exceptional and different. Halo is in the center of the mall, and is the only fountain you can walk through without getting wet. Imagine interconnected crystal tubes with brightly lit mini water-spouts twisting and turning at various angles in competition with nature. Glacia is by The Strip entrance, and may be the only solid water fountain you’ll ever see. 15 columns of ice rise up out of a shallow pool and are randomly carved in the process before getting a chance to melt. Background music accompanies this growing ice sculpture garden of endless shapes and transparencies.
What Else is There To Do – for thrills and chills try the Adventuredome Theme Park at 2880 Las Vegas Blvd. Over 25 rides and games will keep the kids busy for hours. There are several museums in Las Vegas. I loved the Auto Collection at the Imperial Palace. It’s the largest classic car collection and changes frequently as the cars are for sale. I’ve never seen so many beautiful Rolls Royces.
1) Highland Ave. The best shortcut that every resident and every taxi driver knows. You can drive from Oakey Blvd (North of Stratosphere) to Spring Mountain in less than 5 minutes. No traffic lights until you get to desert Inn. That light is only a minute or so. You can turn left there and drive straight into The Wynn or fashion show mall. It is possible that a train might hold you up for 5 minutes but even then you will still avoid the Strip traffic and that is worth waiting for the train.
Las Vegas is easy and economical to fly to, with millions of arrivals and departures each month through McCarran International Airport, and flights as low as from many U.S. cities. Even though Las Vegas is busy year round, with “high season” being usually from January through November, summer deals abound, and this summer, Las vegas is vying for your business after lower than normal returns in the present economical slump. Driving to Las vegas is also a wonderful, scenic filled trip and gives you the option to take the 4.5 hour detour to the Grand Canyon (there are also day tours available from Las Vegas) – to wrap up a memorable summer vacation.
Across from Nellis Air Force Base is another location of Super 8 motel in the city – Super 8 Las vegas Nellis AFB Area. This motel is close to the famous complex of multiple tracks for automobile racing – Las vegas Motor Speedway. This complex features a 1.5-mile superspeedway, 2.5-mile road course, 0.5-mile dirt oval, drag strip and Go-Kart tracks.
