New Year, New 'Do

I get in such hair ruts it's not even funny.  I basically only go in for a haircut when I can no longer ignore the split ends that have taken over my head.  It's bad, and in 2015 I resolve to visit the salon more regularly.  Nothing feels better than freshly cut locks!  I recently had the opportunity to check out SalonCapri in Newton, MA and it was such a treat.  Marisa, my stylist, was such a doll.  We chatted for a few minutes about my hair concerns and what I envisioned, and she suggested we do Balayage Highlights to add some depth and warmth to my dark brown locks.
If you're not familiar with Balayage, it refers to the process of painting color onto the hair and is a great way to add subtle and natural looking color.  Since it is the dead of winter and I don't generally dye my hair, it was important to me that the highlights look natural.  Marisa spent nearly two hours painting my tresses.  She painted thin sections at the top near the roots and then fully saturated the strands toward the bottom, giving a subtle ombre effect that adds dimension and luster.

After the color finished processing, Marisa added a semi-permanent gloss to take out some of the brassiness.  Gloss treatments are also super conditioning, which is especially helpful this time of year.
To freshen up my locks, Marisa chopped off 3 inches and got rid of all those nasty split ends.  She finished off our session by giving my naturally straight hair some volume by adding some fabulous curls.  I could not be happier with how my hair turned out!  The color is spot on, and I am already looking forward to visiting Marisa again in a couple of months for a touch up.  I'm even considering going a bit more drastic with the color for the summertime (when that finally rolls around).
If you are in Massachusetts and looking to freshen up your mane, I cannot recommend SalonCapri enough.  Aside from the Newton location that I visited, they also have salons in Dedham and on Newbury Street in Boston.  If all of the stylists are as amazing as Marisa, then it is easy to see why SalonCapri has won Best of Boston more than 10 times!

Have you entered the new weekly linkup I'm hosting with Cassidy Lou & Dressing Dallas yet?  We will be featuring our favorite looks on Wednesday, so make sure to linkup here!

I received complimentary services from SalonCapri in exchange for an honest and fair review.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.
